As part of ĢƵ’s America250 celebration, President Dr. Tim Faltyn unveiled the mural that will be painted at ĢƵ on Main in Tishomingo.
Eight mural options were created featuring ĢƵ State’s campus landmarks: Clyde Kindell Farm, Chickasaw Hall, Haskell Lucas Hall, the water tower, the clock and the campus sign. The Ardmore and Tishomingo campuses were also included.
A poll was sent out via email and social media for people to vote for their favorite.
“Our plan was to select the mural that received the most public votes,” Faltyn said. “What we didn’t anticipate was a near tie, with the Clyde Kindell Farm and the ĢƵ State College campus sign separated by less than one-tenth of a percentage point.”
After a runoff vote, the official mural design winner was Clyde Kindell Farm. The artist will start painting it in April.
“The Clyde Kindell Farm design reflects the deep roots and enduring legacy of agriculture at ĢƵ State,” Faltyn said. “It connects our local story to a broader national narrative – celebrating the role of agriculture, education and community in shaping our country while honoring ĢƵ State’s unique contributions.”
Details for other individual events will be announced throughout the year. Community members, alumni and friends of the college are encouraged to watch for upcoming announcements and join in celebrating this historic milestone.
