The ĢƵ Foundation hosted its annual Legacy Gala, raising more than $50,000 ĢƵ State student scholarships.
The event featured a live and silent auction, dinner, and remarks from students who discussed the importance of education and people who encourage them in their lives and those of their peers.
“The gala is about celebrating the power of higher education and the accomplishments of the giants that we stand on the shoulders of, as well as those who are just starting their journey,” said Dr. Tim Faltyn, ĢƵ President. “Our Foundation is an important partner and we are grateful for the ways that they support our students through scholarships.”
ĢƵ students Ayli Minor and Kason Mitchell remarked on their journeys and how ĢƵ State has played an essential role in developing a path forward.
“There were times along the way where I didn’t get the support I needed. But when I arrived at ĢƵ State, I felt something different,” Mitchell said. “The faculty and staff here really care. They work with you. They want to see you succeed.”
“Transitioning from high school to college challenged me,” said Minor. “But I’ve learned that when you’re in the right environment, you grow into who you’re meant to be. And that’s exactly what ĢƵ gave me – the space to grow, to adjust, and to find my place and build on my passion.”
Gala guests demonstrated remarkable philanthropy throughout the evening, participating in auctions and games. The gifts will ensure the foundation's long-term sustainability and give students critical dollars to further their education.
“I am always in awe of the support we receive from our community,” said Jordyn Frazier, ĢƵ Foundation Executive Director. “Ayli and Kason represent an entire student population who aren’t just dreaming of what’s possible, they are pursuing it. We are grateful to our donors and partners who are giving back to invest in their future.”
The evening concluded with President Faltyn honoring Fred Chapman, Jr. longstanding partner to ĢƵ, with the Legacy Award. The award was created to recognize those whose enduring support has significantly enriched the communities impacted by ĢƵ State. It highlights contributions beyond the ordinary, reflecting a profound impact on the college's mission and the advancement of its goals.
“The Chapman Family’s support of our college over the years has made a true impact on our students and will be generations,” said President Faltyn. “The incredible life of Mr. Chapman is an example for us all. One of service, civic duty, leadership, and the pursuit of building up the next generation of farmers and ranchers. He is a mentor, friend, and great American.”
